De Luca is currently being tried in Italy for expressing -- during an interview on the Italian site of the Huffington Post -- his solidarity with the Susa Valley's NO TAV activists, a resistance group that opposes the construction of a high-speed train line between Lyon and Torino. If convicted, De Luca could be sent to prison for up to five years.
